Michael Bobbitt

Defensive Coordinator

Special Teams

This is Coach Bobbitt's second year at Sparkman High School but his 20th overall coaching and teaching. He is our defensive coordinator and special teams coach. He has had coaching stints at New Hope, Guntersville, Fort Payne, Southside-Gadsden, Piedmont, Sheffield and Hokes Bluff. While at New Hope, he was the defensive coordinator and helped the Indians to their first ever region championship. At Piedmont, he coordinated the defense for four years before taking over as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. 

 

He is a 1987 graduate of Hokes Bluff High School. In 1996, he received his Bachelors of Science from Jacksonville State University. In June of 2013, he received his Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Samford University. He is married to Karen Bobbitt; who is a guidance counselor at Mt. Carmel Elementary School. They have four children: Luke (20), Kennington (19), Chase (15) and Avery (13).

Ray Segura III

Secondary

Coach Ray is originally from New Orleans. He attended Cullman High School after Hurricane Katrina. After playing six games at Cullman, he was offered a full scholarship at Alabama A&M. He was a part of the 2006 SWAC Championship team. Being sidelined after foot surgeries, he sat in the coach's booth where he studied under legendary Defensive Coordinator Brawnski Towns. He received his Bachelors degree in PE with a concentration in sports management. He says "I have always been a good player but a better teacher of the game. I look forward to setting new standards and having great year with the Senators."

 

Kevin Abernathy

Defensive Line

Coach Abernathy graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Math Education. He has 19 years of coaching experience. He coached middle school football for Sparkman Middle / Madison Cross Roads (1996-2002). He was the Defensive Coordinator and a Special Teams Coordinator for East Limestone High School (2002-2014).

 

He is married (1999) to the former Jennifer Reed of Harvest, Alabama. They have three children: Tyler 22, Bailey 11, and Kara 2.

Larry Seviere

Widerecievers

 

Born in Chicago, IL Coach Sevier graduated from Paul Roberson High School where he played football and baseball his entire tenure as a student. His love and dedication for sports continued on to the college level where he played Cornerback and Special Teams at Alabama A&M University.

 

His coaching career includes: Sparkman Middle School running backs, Defensive Coordinator Meridianville Middle, wide receivers and defensive backs for Hazel Green High School, defensive coordinator for Meridianville Middle and head coach for Meridianville Middle. Coach Sevier presently serves as our wide receivers coach. He loves contributing to the growth of student athletes and believes that champions are forged by hard work and dedication. His dream is to help turn Sparkman High School into an academic and football power house. 

Ronnie Watson

Outside Linebackers

Ronnie Watson graduated from Buckhorn High School where he was a 3 year letterman in football and baseball. He graduated from Athens State with a degree in Social Science/Secondary Education. He is currently teaching world history at Sparkman 9th Grade School. This is his fifth season coaching the Senators.

 

He lives in Harvest with his wife, Melanie, and their three children: Cody (2014 SHS graduate), Sara (13) and Allie (7).

Dezmond Richardson

Running Backs

A graduate of Sparkman High School and former football player. Dezmond Richards currently teaches P.E. at Union Chapel Christian Academy. This is his fifth year coaching football.

 

"I am excited to be coaching at Sparkman for the 2015 season. It's a blessing to be here with the Senators. I'm ready to win some games. Go Sparkman!"

Zac
Smith

Offensive Line

Coach Zac Smith graduated from Ashville High School. While at Ashville, Zac played both wrestling and football. He was instrumental in establishing the wrestling program at Ashville and was the first county champion as well as the first county Most Valuable Wrestler in school history. Zac was also the first defensive football player to be awarded the County’s Most Valuable Player. He received 4-year football scholarship to Mississippi College. Zac played football all four years at Mississippi College and was a two-time Academic All-Conference player. He was a member of the 2009-2010 American Southwest Conference Championship Football Team.

 

Coach Zac coached his first season at Florence High School in Mississippi. He was an assistant Defensive Coordinator at Baldwin County High School in Gulf Shores. He served as a Junior High Head Coach for a Park Crossing High School feeder school in Montgomery.

 

Coach Zac joined the Senators this summer as an assistant offensive line coach. He is also the Head wrestling coach for Sparkman. He is excited to be a part of Sparkman High School.

Ben Stevenson

Freshmen Head Coach

Benjamin Stevenson graduated from Sparkman High School in 2007. He graduated from UNA in 2012 with a Bachelors degree in Secondary Education, Social Science. 

 

He played football and baseball for 4 years while at Sparkman High School. He is this year's Freshmen Head Coach and also coaches freshman baseball. He is from Harvest and married to the former Linzee Crunk of Killen, AL.

John Entrekin

Defensive Coordinator

This is Coach Entrekin's first year at Sparkman High School. He has previously coached at Jeff Davis High School in Montgomery and Grissom High School in Huntsville as a varsity offensive and defensive line coach.

 

He graduated from Auburn University in 2002 with a degree in Mass Communication and worked in journalism, radio and even ad sales before deciding to teach and coach. He received a Masters degree from Alabama State University in Education in 2011. Coach Entrekin has been married to his wife Jessica, a nurse practitioner at Huntsville Hospital, for seven years. 

Carson Webster

Cedric Austin 

Defensive Secondary

Coach Cedric Austin begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Sparkman Senators Football program. Austin graduated from Sparkman in 2006. While attending Sparkman, Cedric was a two-year letterman where he received 2005 Huntsville Times Classic All-Tournament honors and was a member of the 2005 AHSAA Final Four Team.

 

Austin received a full-scholarship to attend Freed-Hardeman University where he earned his BA degree in Art Humanities with a Business Marketing minor. He was a member of the Lions' 2009 & 2011 NAIA D1 National Tournament teams. As a senior, Austin received 1st Team All-TransSouth Conference honors.

 

In May 2015, Austin earned his Masters of Physical Education from Alabama A&M University. He also serves as the Sparkman JV Girls Head Basketball Coach.

 

 

Coach Webster graduated from Sparkman in 2007 where he played baseball and football. Coach Webster was a part of the Region 2 Football Champoinship team. He went on to graduate from Auburn in 2012 with a degree in horticulture. Coach Webster works full time as a crop consultant. He and his girlfriend, Blair Tribble, are excited to be a part of Sparkman football!
